1604 Shelf Subsidy Roll

 

This taxation document is in Latin and the sums are given in Roman Numerals making it difficult to interpret. Nevertheless, it provides a very useful list of the wealthiest residents of Shelf in 1604. The original document was found at Brotherton Library (Leeds University), reference: YAS/MD154.
