Shelf Highways Composition Book 1788
A list taken from the Shelf Highways Composition Book for 1788. Every man in the village was required to work on the roads to keep them in repair, but by the late eighteenth century this system changed and they had to pay towards the upkeep of the roads instead. In 1788 they were required to pay two shillings each. This list seems to only list those who lived in cottages and not those who lived in farmhouses or other kinds of dwellings. The standard of record keeping in this list is much worse than the previous one from 1781 and the entries are very messy.
