The Catholic Church of St. Theresa and St. Winefride’s is situated on St. Paul’s Avenue in Wibsey. It was established as a chapel of ease by St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Manchester Road, Bradford, in 1933 when the site on St. Paul’s Avenue was purchased and a second-hand hut built on the land. It became a separate parish in 1947. The Church was opened in 1953, and this building is now St. Winefride’s Church Hall. A new Church building was built in 1973 and consecrated in 1983. The parish merged with the neighbouring parish of Holy Innocents, Wyke, in 1997. The Parishes of St Winefride’s and St John the Evangelist’s, Buttershaw, were merged in 2009 to become the Catholic Parish of Mary, Mother of God. Any records will be with the church |
